My husband is one of those husbands that buy a gift for me, but actually for the house. You know the ones I mean. So it was no shocker to me when I opened a Christmas gift and realized I got a brand new electric can opener. It was actually very nice and yes we needed a new one. I just wish he would consult someone before he buys anymore gifts.

I am usually a huge bargain shopper, always looking for a deal here or there. I was surprised at the quality I found when I was looking for a new electric can opener. It really seemed the quality matched the prices. This in itself was a shock. I ended up deciding on one that pealed the lid underneath when it cut it off to remove that sharp edge so no one gets cut. That was a great feature, especially with children in the house.

If someone asked me what the best kitchen accessory I have was I would quickly say my electric can opener. I love it, and it is super easy to use. I can easily place the can on the magnet strip and have it cut the top off and leave no sharp metal edges. It can also sharpen a dull knife when I need that done as well. It is definitely a focal point in my kitchen and will be for some time.

Taking my husband to an appliance store is a disaster waiting to happen, literally. He will find everything that is new and improved and convince me we need a new one of something. One thing I could not argue about was a new electric can opener. He found one that matched our kitchen perfectly and it was a perfect counter top size. Of course we had to take it home and make it our newest kitchen accessory.

I married an architect for a reason, he got to design the structure of the house and I got to design the inside of the house. I planned things out to the tee all the way from the flooring and paint to the little items like the silverware and the electric can opener. There was a color scheme for everything and now years later we both love it together.

That is because they like to compare their gadgets. All the way from the new granite countertop or the double stainless steel sink all the way to the new electric can opener on the counter. That is why most men stay in the living room.

One of my prized possessions in my kitchen is my electric can opener. It can not only open a can in one sweep and remove the sharp lid for me; but, it also has a knife sharpener and sports the stainless steel look I love in the kitchen. It does not get put away in a cabinet until we are ready to use it because we use it every single day.

When it became apparent that my father was having a harder time opening up cans with the original can opener he had I had to find him an electric can opener. He has arthritis and it is getting worse so this would make it easier for him to get the entire lid of and not have to hurt his fingers or knuckles in the process. I only had to show him once how to use it and now he uses it always.

I have a friend that runs a child care business in her home and one day she asked me to pick up an electric can opener because hers went out. I stopped by the appliance store and got her a great one that matched her kitchen setup and it had a knife sharpener and a magnetized lid catcher attached to it. I thought that was a good idea so the lid does not slip down inside the actual can.

Not sure what to buy my sister for her house warming present I went searching through store after store until I was out of ideas. I finally just called her and asked her what she wanted. It was a last ditch effort I know, but it had to be done. When she told me all she wanted was a nice electric can opener I was ecstatic. I knew I could go right to the local appliance store and get a nice one for her.
