Electric can opener an essential tool
One of my prized possessions in my kitchen is my electric can opener. It can not only open a can in one sweep and remove the sharp lid for me; but, it also has a knife sharpener and sports the stainless steel look I love in the kitchen. It does not get put away in a cabinet until we are ready to use it because we use it every single day.

When it became apparent that my father was having a harder time opening up cans with the original can opener he had I had to find him an electric can opener. He has arthritis and it is getting worse so this would make it easier for him to get the entire lid of and not have to hurt his fingers or knuckles in the process. I only had to show him once how to use it and now he uses it always.

The kitchen in most familys homes is the gathering place for company at one point in time. Think about it when you have company over, where do the women usually go, the kitchen right? That is because they like to compare their gadgets. All the way from the new granite countertop or the double stainless steel sink all the way to the new electric can opener on the counter. That is why most men stay in the living room.

My husband is one of those husbands that buy a gift for me, but actually for the house. You know the ones I mean. So it was no shocker to me when I opened a Christmas gift and realized I got a brand new electric can opener. It was actually very nice and yes we needed a new one. I just wish he would consult someone before he buys anymore gifts.

We need to remember children love helping out, no matter what room of the house it is. Children can begin learning safety in the kitchen with something as small as the electric can opener. If parents show proper care and use in the beginning years it will be natural for them as they grow older and they will enjoy helping and not consider it a task.

My mother is no retentive on how things match in her home it is actually comical. When my father broke the toaster one morning, but that afternoon every small kitchen appliance had been replaced with new matching ones. When I asked her why she did that she simply told me she could not have one toaster not match the electric can opener not match the coffee pot. I just smiled and gave her hugs, what else can you do?

There are so many gift ideas out there now for any occasion. From what I can tell you can never go wrong with getting something for the kitchen though. I got my parents a new electric can opener for Christmas one year and they were so happy. I suppose my mother has been messing around with a manual one and was tired of it, so it came at a perfect time.

I was unsure of how my daughter would be when she moved into her first apartment, so being a worried mom I took her to the store and we stocked her apartment of things she would need. We ended up getting many things including an electric can opener, toaster and coffee pot for the kitchen. She was happy we were able to find them all in green, which is the color she opted for the design of the appliances.

Not sure what to buy my sister for her house warming present I went searching through store after store until I was out of ideas. I finally just called her and asked her what she wanted. It was a last ditch effort I know, but it had to be done. When she told me all she wanted was a nice electric can opener I was ecstatic. I knew I could go right to the local appliance store and get a nice one for her.

Taking my husband to an appliance store is a disaster waiting to happen, literally. He will find everything that is new and improved and convince me we need a new one of something. One thing I could not argue about was a new electric can opener. He found one that matched our kitchen perfectly and it was a perfect counter top size. Of course we had to take it home and make it our newest kitchen accessory.
My new toy the electric can opener
I love working for a local appliance store. I get to see the newest gadgets before anyone else. Often times we get to try them out or use the floor model. One day I desperately needed a can opener for my lunch and I had no other option but to use the display electric can opener we had up on the shelf. Actually in my surprise it worked really well and I ended up getting one for my house too.

If someone asked me what the best kitchen accessory I have was I would quickly say my electric can opener. I love it, and it is super easy to use. I can easily place the can on the magnet strip and have it cut the top off and leave no sharp metal edges. It can also sharpen a dull knife when I need that done as well. It is definitely a focal point in my kitchen and will be for some time.
Electric can opener safe us
Safety is important in any household, whether there are children present or not. Getting products that have safety mechanisms in place to avoid injury is a major plus. So when I found an electric can opener that offered a removable magnetic piece that could be removed so no fingers would accidently get cut it was a must have in my kitchen. Now when we are done with it, we just remove it and put it in the drawer so no one gets hurt.
